Community Service

    • Brought the SHIP Program to Flagler County and organized the first Affordable housing committee.
    • Chaired the Planning Board, Served on Recreation Advisory and Long Range Planning Boards.
    • Chaired the Advanced Technology College Board, appointed by Flagler County School Board.
    • Appointed to 3 Governor’s committees: Affordable Housing, Growth Management Fiscal Impact and Residential Construction Mitigation Advisory.
    • Current Member of the Florida Hospital Flagler Board of Directors.
    • Florida Agricultural Museum Governing Board when it selected Flagler County as its home.


Professional and Career Leadership Service

  • Past President of Flagler County Realtors, Flagler County Chamber of Commerce and Flagler County Homebuilders.
  • First woman President of the Florida Home Builders Association
  • Awarded the “Builder of the Year” in 2006 for the state of Florida.
  • National Director representing Florida and Puerto Rico for the National Home Builders Assn.

Service as Flagler County Commissioner, District 3
In my two terms as the Flagler County Commissioner, District 3, I am proud of these accomplishments:

  • Monitored the Airport Advisory Committee
  • Served on the Department of Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee
  • Chaired the Public Safety Coordinating Committee.
  • Chaired the initial Flagler County Department of Economic Opportunity and hired Helga Van Eckert.
  • Was the first representative to the Transportation Planning Organization “River to Sea” TPO and served on the Executive Committee
  • Serving as current Chair of the Board of the Florida PACE Funding Agency.
  • Monitored and worked with Staff, Architects and Engineers on Flagler’s large Construction projects such as the Sheriff’s operation center and Inmate facility.
  • Helped save the Carver Gym from closure and created the collaborative effort form several entities that continue to support it, cutting the county outlay more than 50% for support of operations. Currently serve as President of the Foundation responsible for raising funds for the Center’s operation.
  • Serve as current Chair of the Tourist Development Council that oversees Millions of tourism generated funding for local events and capital projects.
  • Assisted in the growth and stabilization of the Flagler County Free Clinic to better serve those neediest in our community. Negotiated the agreement for a permanent home for the Clinic.
  • Worked with a core group to obtain Federal Funding for the Sally’s Safe Haven, exchange house for families in need and in crises to safely visit their children.
  • Lobbied Washington Army Corps for the continued study and funding for Flagler’s at risk shoreline. We need our design for restoration to be approved for FEMA funding for severe erosion.
  • Participated on multiple Park improvements throughout the county, with new facilities coming or completed at Princess Place-Stable Restoration, River to Sea-Cottages, Old Salt Pork- new pavilion walking trail, Varn Park-new Restrooms and expanded access, Moody Boat Launch dredging and new bathrooms, Old Dixie Highway Horseshoe Competition facilities, Bings- new bathrooms and food vendor, Bull Creek-new food vendor, AND more to come for the public to further enjoy these facilities.
  • Created with Flagler Hospital-Flagler CEO the Flagler Cares coalition of medical providers to share information for better outcomes and access for our citizen’s needs. Currently serving as a community member on the BOD.
  • Saw the successful award of a Grant for the Crisis Triage Unit operated out of Stuart Marchman Behavioral system. Keeping citizens out of jail, off the streets and maintaining their mental health.
  • Worked on a Court Diversion program, that keeps persons in the court system in contact to reach their court dates, in compliance with proper behavior in order to be released from jail while pending trial.
  • Led the study committee to determine uses for the old Court House. Successfully negotiated with the existing user for maintain the facility for the use of a school. Removing maintenance costs to the county.
  • Celebrated the County’s successful completion of the Old Kings Road extension in Palm Coast and the new Matanzas Woods Parkway interchange opening.
  • Appeared before the Florida Wildlife Commission for adoption of our Manatee Protection plan, which was approved and now in place.
  • Worked with a core group of concerned citizens to create the Hammock Nature Conservancy.
  • Completing second term as Chair of the Commission.
